In this episode, I delve into stress - an often under-discussed factor affecting weight and overall well-being. From internal turmoil to external pressures, stress weaves itself into our lives in myriad ways, subtly influencing our physical health and mental state. It's not always within our control, making it uncomfortable to confront.
I have always thrived in high-stress environments. From my job as a video producer to managing the dynamics of my relationships, handling stress has become a badge of honor. However, I've begun to realize that excessive stress can have detrimental effects on the body - raising cortisol levels, shutting down metabolism, and increasing belly fat, blood cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure.
Recently, while juggling a demanding schedule of live streams, edits, contract negotiations, and more, I had a critical realization. While I can perform well under stress, there's a limit to how much my body can endure. Acknowledging this, I've started making tweaks in my lifestyle to manage my stress better and ensure my body's well-being.
From choosing not to push through with my morning swim after a long workday to preparing my body for a crazy weekend by taking things easier, I'm becoming more conscious about listening to my body's needs. It's clear - managing stress should involve not just mental agility but also physical readiness. Join me as I dissect my relationship with stress, shedding light on how it impacts my physical health and the changes I'm making to manage it effectively.
